Thanks from Bill Nelson
Dear Billy Bowlegs Taskforce Volunteers and Sponsors:
I want to commend all of you for your dedication and work in protecting our environment. Like you, I believe we must do all we can to safeguard Florida's unique environment and maintain its natural beauty.
I have been particularly concerned about environmental issues that impact the natural ecosystems of our state's rivers, coasts, waterways, and the wildlife these habitats support. That's why I continued to press for the funding to complete vital Everglades restoration efforts such as the Indian River Lagoon and Picayune Strand projects. And, it's also why I'm committed to keeping oil drilling far away from Florida's coast while also supporting efforts to dramatically reduce our use of fossil fuels.
As you gather today to reflect on what you've accomplished and what more needs to be done, I urge you to continue your efforts to educate all Americans about the need to combat global warming and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. By working together, I remain optimistic about our chance of passing many meaningful environmental reforms in the months and years to come in the United States Congress.
Your dedication and commitment to providing much needed services to people in your community is commendable. Your contribution serves as an important part in making a positive difference in the lives of those who you serve. Thank you for your hard work, expertise, and personal dedication.
Thank you again for your commitment to our environment. Keep up the good work!
Sincerely,
Bill Nelson
